Sleipner Free Library Licence

Version 1.0 · Last updated 2 November 2026

Updated 2026-11-02: simpler. Use the models in anything; the only rules are don’t resell them as models and don’t claim you made them.

In three lines

The full licence below is what counts.

1. What this licence covers

  1. "Sleipner", "we" and "us" mean Sleipner, the business behind 3d.sleipner.ai, based in Sweden (contact: [email protected]). The legal entity's registered name and details will be added here.
  2. "Models" means the files you download from the library at 3d.sleipner.ai/library, including its packs and its community section (models our users shared with us to publish under this licence): the 3D meshes in every format and detail level, with their textures, materials, rigs and animations, and the studio renders shown with them.
  3. "Your project" means anything you make or publish that uses a Model: for example a game, app, website, shop, film, video, image, render, advert, AR or VR experience, physical product, 3D print, or an entry to a game jam or contest.
  4. This licence does not cover new objects you generate yourself with Sleipner 3D's generator, from your own prompts or photos, or in the style of a Model ("make something in this style": the Model's renders only guide the look). Those are yours; see the Terms of service. A changed copy of a library Model that you make with the generator ("make it red") is still a Model under this licence.

2. What you may do

Sleipner gives you a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence, which does not end as long as you follow it, to:

  1. use, copy, change and display the Models in your projects, personal or commercial, for yourself or for clients, and combine them with other work;
  2. publish, distribute and sell your projects with the Models inside them, for example in a game build, an app, a rendered image or video, a website or a manufactured product;
  3. hand a project that contains Models to a client who paid you to make it. The client may use the Models in that project under this licence;
  4. let stores, platforms, publishers and the organisers of game jams and contests distribute, show, change and promote your project, and give them the licence they need for that, including one they may transfer or sublicense, as long as it covers the Models only as part of your project and never on their own;
  5. share your project's source or engine project (for example an Unreal project for a game jam, or an open-source repository) with the Models inside, as long as you say that the Models are under the Sleipner Free Library Licence and not under your project's own licence.

There is no fee, and you don't have to credit us.

3. The three things you may not do

  1. Don't resell or re-share the Models as models. You may not sell, license, give away, upload or share a Model as an asset on its own, or in an asset pack, a model library or a bundle, changed or not. This includes 3D model marketplaces and asset stores, "free 3D models" sites, and datasets of Models (for example for AI training) that you share or sell.
  2. Don't claim you made them. You may not claim that you created a Model, or pass it off as your own original work: for example by uploading it as your own asset, entering it in a contest or a portfolio as your own modelling, or registering it as your own trademark, logo or design.
  3. Don't use them to train AI. You may not use the Models, or renders or data made from them, to train, fine-tune or evaluate a machine-learning model, or put them in a dataset for that. This applies to the library's Models, including your edits of them (see 1.4), not to new objects you generate yourself from your own prompts or photos.

A game or app that loads a Model at run time is fine, even if a determined person could pull the file out of it. So is sharing your project's source under point 2.5. What matters is that you pass on your project, not the Models as assets.

Everything else is allowed, as long as it is lawful and keeps to our Terms of service.

4. Credit and labels

You don't have to credit Sleipner. If you want to, write "Model by Sleipner (3d.sleipner.ai)" or similar.

If a store, a contest or the law asks you to list assets you didn't make (a game jam's "sourced assets", for example), list the Models as "Sleipner 3D library (Sleipner Free Library Licence)". That is not credit; it is simply not claiming them as yours (point 3.2).

The Models are made with the help of AI. If a store, a contest or the law asks you to say which content was made with AI, we recommend that you include the Models.

5. Parts made by others

Some Models contain parts made by others under their own licence, for example a skeleton and animations under CC0. The model's page lists them. Those parts stay under their own licence, which may give you more freedom than this one.

6. Who owns the Models

Sleipner keeps the rights it has in the Models. This licence gives you a right to use them; it does not transfer ownership.

The Models are made with the help of AI tools and then finished by us. Copyright may not protect every part of them in every country. This licence is also an agreement between you and Sleipner, which you accept when you download a Model, and it applies whether or not copyright protects a particular Model.

7. No warranty

The Models are free and given as they are. We work hard on their quality, but we don't promise that a Model is free of errors, fits your purpose, or meets technical or legal requirements for your project (for example safety rules for a printed product). Check that a Model is right for your use. Our liability is limited as set out in the Terms of service.

8. If you break the licence

If you break this licence, your right to use the Models concerned ends. Projects you already released while you were following the licence may stay as they are, and licences you gave others under point 2.4 continue. We may also ask you to remove Models you shared against section 3.

9. New versions

We may publish new versions of this licence. Each Model you downloaded stays under the version that applied when you downloaded it, unless you choose a later version. The version number and date are at the top of this page.

10. Law

Swedish law applies to this licence, as described in the Terms of service.

11. Questions
